The Tattoo Project

Tattoo by Keith Winterbottom, Citrus City Tattoo

"Every tattoo tells a story, whether the ink is meaningful or the result of a misguided decision made at the age of fourteen, representative of the wearer's true self or the accidental consequence of a bender. These most permanent and intimate of body adornments are hidden by pants legs and shirttails, emblazoned on knuckles, or tucked inside mouths. They are battle scars and beauty marks, totems and mementos.”  Pen & Ink: Tattoos and the Stories Behind Them

Do you, or does someone you know, have a tattoo that holds significant meaning?  If so, please keep reading!

The Tattoo Project is a collaborative community effort to exhibit and archive your tattoos along with your stories about them – about the experiences that are inked into your body and etched in your memory.

Our tattoos help us communicate our life experiences – our joys, sorrows, accomplishments, and dreams.  They provide us with an opportunity to talk about what is important to us.  In talking about our tattoos, we may even expose the elephant in the room that others avoid, but that benefits from exposure and from communication.
